I know, I know, yet another post about a lip product. At least I’m consistent huh? They’re my favourite type of makeup and one that I probably okay definitely own too many of. So when I was at Liverpool Street station, I nipped into Boots to pick up an emergency concealer that’s a completely normal thing to do right?! I completely forgot how massive their cosmetics selection was and how many brands had counters so found myself picking up a few treats. One of which was my first venture into Burberry’s makeup collection, a Lip Velvet lipstick in No.310 or Military Red. As much as I love All Fired Up and Ruby Woo by MAC, a girl can never have too many matte reds… Or at least not in my opinion!
Burberry Lip Velvet Lipstick in Military Red
Firstly, the packaging is gorgeous. It’s magnetic meaning the lid always snaps back the same position and my inner child would be happy taking the top on and off over and over again. Seriously, it’s so satisfying, especially if like myself you find yourself trying and failing to keep things like nail polish lids line up. Not only does it make my neat side happy it oozes sophistication with a matte finish, sleek lines and a small amount of the famous Burberry check on the side.
So, at £23.00, was it worth splurging on?
Aside from the looking and feeling like a luxury product when you pick it up, the formula doesn’t lack. The first time wearing it was to a gig where I had a few glasses of wine while singing and dancing along, and by the end of the night.. It had hardly budged minus a small amount rubbing from the middle. Result. & Exactly what I want from a high end matte lipstick. Like all matte lipsticks, it was a little drying, but no more than normal or expected.
Personally, colour wise I get on really well with this. It is almost a neutral red without any distinct undertones, it does however look nice and bright.
The range has 12 shades in, so would I pick up another? Well, if I was passing a counter, I’m fairly certain I wouldn’t be able to resist another on of these beauties but I don’t have immediate plans to pick one up. The price tag is around 50% higher than my normal MAC lipstick treat, so it’s definitely more of a spurge, but I am chuffed I picked it up.
Have you tried any of Burberry’s makeup range or the Lip Velvets? What were your thoughts?

Very gorgeous colour but I'm not sure I'd pay Β£23 for a lipstick! Definitely worth a good spurgle every once in a while though π

I kind of made the mistake of falling in love with it and not checking the price before I got to the counter.. Not my wisest move!
I do love a splurge too! π

I would recommend them if you're feeling particularly naughty!
