As anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m a big fan of both cocktails and Prosecco. So while preparing for a long weekend with friends in a few weeks, I though I’d use some of the skills learnt at my trip to the European Bartending School and practice making some Prosecco based cocktails ready to for our girls get away. All of these have 4 ingredients or less so won’t take up too much space in my case and take less than 5 minutes each to prepare, leaving us more time for enjoying them!
From left to right: Green Goddess, Elderflower Spritz and Berry Fizz.
Green Goddess
- Pour 25ml (one shot) of Midori Melon liquor* into the bottom of the glass.
- Squeeze in a little lemon and top with Prosecco.
- Optional – Slice of a little lemon rind and twist to dress.
Although this looks like it takes a lot of messing about to make, it’s one of the quickest of the lot (unless your like me and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to the lemon twist). It’s sweet and sharp and also, if you’re feeling a little more flush, works well with substituting the Prosecco for champagne too.
Elderflower Spritz
- Pour 10ml (roughly half a shot) of elderflower cordial into the glass.
- Squeeze in a little lemon and top with Prosecco.
A sweet and tangy mix, the lemon really cuts through the extra sweetness the elderflower adds. This is lovely on it’s own, however if you’re prefer to live a little more on the wild side, add a shot of gin along with the lemon for a sharper mix that really packs a punch.
Berry Fizz
- Pour 25ml (one shot) of strawberry puree and squeeze in a little lime.
- Alternatively, if you don’t have strawberry puree, you can always use a little Funkin Woo Woo* cocktail mixer.
- Fill with Prosecco and stir gently to insure the strawberry mixes in fully and doesn’t settle at the bottom of the glass.
- Optional – Garnish with half strawberry.
A sweet twist on the classic peach Bellini, if strawberry is a little too sugary for you you can always use raspberry or cranberry instead.
