MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Rich & Restless || Beauty

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Review
Between my love affair with MAC and my love of liquid to matte lipsticks, it was only a matter of time (I’m less sorry than I should be for that awful pun) until I bought myself one of the Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours released earlier this month. When the first pictures of the range leaked on Instagram, I wasn’t sure if they’d replace my favourite liquid to matte formula by Kat Von D, but I was excited to see how MAC’s version compared. I was spoiled for choice with the 15 gorgeous colours currently in the collection, however a few other lipstick fans had beaten me too it and some of my favourites had sold out. I eventually settled on Rich & Restless a pinky coral colour with warm undertones.

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Review

With liquid to matte lipsticks the applicator is extremely important as one wrong swipe can lead to a make-up disaster. MAC’s wand glides on like a dream and the formula is quick drying and long lasting. I left it a good 30 minutes until I took a drink after applying and saw no colour transfer. Unlike cheaper liquid to matte formulas I didn’t see any cracking or flaking and colour only started for fade from the middle after a few drinks when I put it to the test at the Ice Bar for #BloggersBelowZero. Although I’m not sure if the ice helped accelerate that..

Despite the colour and feel being gorgeous, because of the drying formula all liquid to matte formulas have, this isn’t an every day lip colour. However, for when you need a colour that lasts this is ideal. MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is a little more expensive than their lipstick range retailing at £21.00 each. Personally, I prefer the Kat Von D formula and find it a little less drying. The price point on the Kat Von D everlasting lipsticks are also a lot lower working out around £15 depending on exchange rates and taxes. However, MAC has one huge advantage being that I can pick up one at any local counter and not have to worry about international shipping. Although rumour has it Kat Von D Beauty is coming to Debenhams..

Have you tried MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour yet? If not, what are your favourite liquid to matte lipsticks?

I haven't tried the MAC ones or the Kat von D ones, I'm debating making a Sephora order come pay day so I many add a Kat von D one to my list :). I'm currently loving the NYX suede liquid lipsticks. I love the formula and they're super cheap xx

I was the same – it's sort of growing on me now though but I think they could have done SO much more with it! Cx

I've never tried a liquid lipstick! Seems I am missing out. I don't like the packaging MAC choose for this though, looks so strange!
