The After School Cookie Club is London’s first plant-based cookie bakery, specialising in crafting freshly baked, gooey, hand-topped cookies. Started back in 2019 from a food stand selling pots of cookie dough, they’ve now expanded to five locations across the city, selling a whole range of cookie-based delights. I’d heard a lot about them over the previous year and made a mental note to give them a try if I either saw them on delivery, at a food festival, or if I walked past one, adventuring around the city. After all, the vegan baked options on a menu normally are pretty lacking, so having somewhere that has a whole range of flavours to pick from? Sign me up!
So, needless to say when on the way back from dinner after work, I passed their Victoria Arcade, I had to pick up some for myself. I opted for the Strawberry & Marshmallow ones for both my boyfriend and I, and safe to say it was love at first bite. Soft, chocolately, and with a little something extra from the freeze-dried strawberries and marshmallow. So while we were wandering around the Kings Cross area, namely towards Coal Drop Yards, as we didn’t want to risk missing a train a week or so later, and spotted they’d got a branch. Well, it was a no-brainer; we were stopping for cookies and ice cream!

The After School Cookie Club, Vegan Cookies & Soft Serve Ice Cream
Before I go into my thoughts, let’s just take a minute to talk about the range of goodies that The After School Cookie Club offers. Aside from the range of cookies, including the Chocolate Chip and Oat & Raisin Crumble, their core range also has Double Chocolate Chip and Strawberry and Marshmallow. Fancy something a little bit fancier for your sweet treat? They’ve got you. Currently, their premium-topped range has Peanut Choc-Caramel, S’mores, Banoffee, and Apple Crumble versions. But, as you can see from the photos, they don’t stop there. They also offer a range of products with their cookie dough topped with soft serve, ice cream sandwiches, and cookies with ice cream. Or if you’d prefer, just some of their vanilla soft serve with your choice of toppings.
This was my first time trying vegan soft serve ice cream, and I was super impressed. The flavour wasn’t quite the old school Mr Whippy I remember, but instead far more flavourful with a lovely vanilla taste throughout. I went for mine with the S’mores cookie topped with freeze-dried strawberries. I don’t know quite how they managed to make the marshmallow on top as gorgeously melty as they did, but it was delicious. My fella went for the double chocolate chip and was just as amazed. We were both super impressed, and even though it was raining by the time we’d ordered, the great service and yummy treat really brightened our afternoon!
